Welcome to SERENDIB Kitchen
Bringing Sri Lanka’s Flavors to the Pacific Northwest
Rooted in the vibrant flavors and traditions of Sri Lanka, Serendib Kitchen was born from our family’s love of home-cooked meals and a dream to share them with our community here in the Pacific Northwest.
What began in our home kitchen has grown into a rolling kitchen filled with bold spices, sizzling street-food classics, slow-simmered curries, and the irresistible aromas of our little island.
We’re here to recreate the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality – the kind that welcomes you in, feeds you generously, and sends you off smiling.
Whether you’re discovering Sri Lankan cuisine for the very first time or finding comfort in the tastes of home, every dish we serve carries the soul, stories, and spices of Serendib.
About Us
Where island tradition meets Pacific Northwest soul.
Serendib Kitchen brings the heart of Sri Lankan cuisine to Oregon — one sizzling kottu, simmering curry, and comforting cup of ginger tea at a time.
Our journey began at home.
Growing up in Sri Lanka, food meant family — kitchens filled with stories, laughter, and the rich aroma of roasted spices and coconut milk. When we moved to Oregon, we carried those memories with us, but we missed the flavours that shaped our childhood: a proper chicken kottu, a fresh patty, pol sambol made just right, and the joy of sharing them with a community.
That longing sparked a dream:
What if we could bring the flavours of home to the Pacific Northwest?
Today, that dream lives as Serendib Kitchen — a food truck built on family recipes, late-night cooking sessions, and a desire to share Sri Lankan warmth and hospitality with everyone. Every dish we serve is the food we grew up with: vibrant, authentic, and made with the same love as in our own kitchen.
From our signature Kottu to street-style bites and occasional hoppers, every plate tells a story — a story of home, culture, and bringing people together.
We’re grateful for the incredible support from our community. Whether you’re trying Sri Lankan food for the first time or returning for your favourites, you’re part of our Serendib family.
From our little island to the Pacific Northwest — welcome to Serendib Kitchen.
Come hungry, leave happy.

I just got back from Sri Lanka and was thrilled to find a brand new Sri Lankan food cart right here in Hillsboro—Serendib Kitchen. Honestly, the food blew me away. I tried the beef and chicken kotthu along with the egg rotis, and everything was packed with authentic, bold flavors that even rival some of the meals I enjoyed back home. The pork devil was the absolute standout for me—perfectly seasoned with that delicious Sri Lankan heat and spice balance. The flavors are so well-crafted and layered that every bite felt like a mini trip back to the island. I’m definitely going back to explore the rest of the menu. If you’re looking for genuine Sri Lankan street food flavor, this is a must-try. Highly recommended for all food lovers! 🍽️🇱🇰Posted on Sarah KerleeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This is the second time my spouse and I have eaten here. The shrimp kottu and veggie patty were amazing. But the string hoppers and egg rotty were absolutely phenomenal. We'll be back!Posted on RasI KumATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently tried Serendib Kitchen in Hillsboro and was really impressed! The chicken kottu was excellent - perfectly cooked with a great blend of spices and just the right level of heat. It had that nice kick of spice without overpowering the flavor, which is hard to get right. The portion size was generous, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. The ginger tea was spot on! Service was friendly and prompt. The ambiance was great too -- relaxed and welcoming, with comfortable covered outdoor seating that made the meal even more enjoyable. Definitely one of the best Sri Lankan dining experiences l've had in Oregon. I'll be back to try more from their menu!Posted on sheron liyanarachchiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Best Kottu in the Pacific Northwest! We’ve been craving authentic Sri Lankan food in the Portland area, and Serendip Kitchen absolutely delivered. The kottu tasted just like the ones in Sri Lanka; authentic & flavorful. Every other dish we tried was spot on. Service was 10/10. Danushka, the owner, is super friendly and clearly passionate about the food and his guests. So glad we found this place. We’ll definitely be back!
